Throw the Last Stone - (11/28/04)
The evilness inside us takes to the desire to be judges and not helpers of our brothers and sisters, spectators and not participants of the sufferings; accusers and not defenders of the oppressed. Instead of being dominated by a spirit of praise and thanksgiving, our hearts get filled with hate and envies towards our brother when he accomplishes
victory.

In general, we don’t mind much with other people’s faults, since it’s not our fault. We laugh at the clown because we see on him our own face. Psychology studies the phenomenon called “projection”. Each one of us project our own image on somebody else and condemns others people when seeing our own mistakes on them, the same way we exalt our own virtues.

The zealous Jewish take an unhappy women to Jesus’ court one day, they did not want to stone the women. They wanted to stone Christ Himself. In the deepest of their hearts they were condemning themselves. Stoning the women, they would be trying to justify themselves before their afflicted consciousness. This way, the word of Jesus were “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her”, these are words of compassion, not only for the women, but also for the accusers. Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground. In His mercy, the Lord was giving them some time to reflect and not condemn themselves.

“Any one without sin...” In that circle, the only one without sin was Jesus, but he did not condemn the women. Each believer should be the last one to throw stones against his brother. We should be helpers, not accusers; counselors, not judges, interceptors and not denouncers. James says: “Pray for one another, so you may be healed”. That’s what we have to do! Wherever glorifies the Lord, our Savior , not our perfection but our love.
