A Home in Need of Help - (11/21/04)

I am a Christian Home. No, I’m sorry for the mistake, I was a Christian home. As a family there were always open discussions on many interesting topics. We were serious about what we were saying and made sure to respect each other's ideas and be frank and sincere. The children would be amused and everyone in the family would speak their minds, exchanging ideas and enjoying each other's company and this quality time spent together. At night, there was time for praying (sometimes on their knees), Bible reading, meditation and singing of beautiful hymns.

How good those moments were! It seems that the very angels were watching the children as they were trying to read and stumbling on the words and then looking to their parents for help. I felt so proud and felt so confident in knowing that the source of all that harmony was the Lord Jesus Christ.

However, everything changed suddenly. The head of the family, the husband and father is a quiet and sad person now. It seems that every one became very disinterested. There was no more family conversation, singing, praying or Bible reading. No one is at home together anymore. If someday they are all at home, one would go to their room to read a magazine and play with the computer, another would lay on the sofa, staring at the ceiling, with a very stressed out expression. Most of the time, too much time would be spent in front of a box called a TV.

The Bible isn’t examined anymore, they don’t even touch it. I feel that the values are being changed by fantasies, and human ideas.

Sincerely, I would say that I don’t understand how this happened so quickly. This formerly warm family is now reduced to a group of people moving around in an environment of oppression, coldness and indifference. Pray that I might become a CHRISTIAN HOME again.
