Text: Genesis 18:1-16
Introduction.
-Abraham had a son with Hagar. -A crisis had been settled in the marriage. -In the heat of Midday, he is outside his tent. Sarah is inside. - Genesis 16:1-2 informs us that the idea of Abraham having a son with Hagar was Sarah's. - Genesis 21:8-9 informs us that the idea of sending Hagar away was also Sarah's. -What was the crisis? Abraham was a father. But Sarah was not a mother. -When Ishmael , Hagar's son, was born, Abraham was 86 years old. - The problems come along with us our whole life. 01. God sees Abraham's heart.
- Genesis 18:3 Not only one, but three angels visit Abraham. -God had made a promise. In the deepest crisis, he intervenes. -God sees the husband's heart, the wife's heart and the son's as well.
02. Abraham opens his heart to God.
- Genesis 18:3. To wash the feet, to offer food, to wish fellowship. - He does not miss the opportunity to adore. - He does not "close the door" to God. - There are many that, during crises, close the door to God. -Abraham is then known as the "friend of God".
03. God intervenes in an open heart.
- Abraham was 75 years old when God promised him a son. -Abraham was 86 years old when Ishmael was born. - When he was 99 years old, God appears to him and confirms the promise. -When he was 100 years old, Isaac was born. - 25 years waiting. The time, the enemy of hope. -If the time is not well managed, the soul ends up in desperation. - Genesis 18:10. We will return in a year.
Conclusion.
- Genesis 18:12 . Sarah laughed. - A laugh that shows crisis. Sadness, bitterness. - Genesis 18:13. She is reproached. Tries to explain herself. -How would you like to be at the age of 90, 100 years? Overflowing happiness or bitterness? - What to do when facing the "blows of life"? -Is anyone here "sitting outside the tent"? -There was a problem there. - " In a marital relationship, when someone wins, the relationship loses." -Abraham was happy, was a father. Sarah was bitter, unable to have a child. -May God intervene in our family.
