How things were in the days of Noah...(07/09/06 - Night)

Text: Matthew 24: 37-39

Introduction

- The days of Noah.

Genesis 6:1-7 and 6:11.
Illustration: Genesis 19: 23-25 - Sodom e Gomorrah.
God could not stand the generalized corruption and destroyed the earth.


- Who is Noah?

Genesis 6:9. Righteous. Just. The idea of a vase without defects, flaws.
He walked with God.
Genesis 6:13. Intimacy with God.

A) There is a limit for God’s patience.

Genesis 6:3. 120 years is a good time for repentance.
Genesis 6:4b. Famous people were also destroyed by the flood.
Powerful men can escape from the justice of men, but no from God’s justice.

B) God wants people to receive His word.

Matthew 18:14. Conclusion of the parable of the lost sheep.
John 6:39-40. This is God’s will, says Jesus.
Building the ark. Noah used to give his testimony.

C) There will be separation between those who obey and those who don’t.

Let’s go back to the first text we read. ( Matthew 24:37-39 )
Genesis 7:11-13. Noah’s obedience.
II Peter 2: 4-5. He did not spare wicked men. Preserved Noah.

D) Faith must be followed by obedience.

Noah is in the gallery of the heroes of faith. Hebrews 11:7.
Ephesians 2: 8-10 e James 2: 17

E) There is salvation only by means established by God.

Genesis 6:16. The ark had only one door.
Illustration: In the parable of the 10 virgins. ( Matthew 25:10-13)
Detail: God is the one who closed the door.
Matthew 7:13: The narrow door is the most difficult, but it is the best one.

Conclusion.

- We live in days very similar to the days of Noah.
- Genesis 9:13. The sign that God would no longer destroy the earth with water.
- Genesis 24:39. “… and they did not notice, until the Flood came..”
