Introduction.
- Is money the answer to all of the problems? - Matthew 16:26. The danger of material things - Does life only consist of material things? - Why did God call this man crazy? Because he was a farmer? Because he worked hard? - Because he saved money? Because he knew how to deal with money? Because he got ready to be old? - The answer is no.
01. Because he left God out of life and plans .
- James 4:13-15 - This man didn’t know this text. - Lived only for material reasons. - It can happen to anyone, rich or poor. - Illustration: The story of Zecchaeus in Luke 19:1-2 - We have “ something missing” which is the size of Jesus.
02. Because he did think that life consisted of having too many things.
- We have the difficulty to decide between what it necessary and what is not. - We have needs: clothes, food, house. - Let’s take a look at Luke 12:22-23 - Lee Lacoca: President of Ford for 32 years and he was also president of Chrysler.
“Avarice is not good; it is the greatest misleading of life. Covet damages the life.”
03. Because he thought he had an unlimited time.
- We never think, “ I will die ” We think “ there is still time” - Proverbs 27:1. We are not tomorrow’s owners. - Hebrew 9:27. There will not be a second chance. - Back to James, chapter 4. “Life is a vapor”
04. Because he was not ready to die.
- God said that he was unprepared. - In fact, he was ready to live in here only. - People live as if they could run away from death. - Illustration: Revelation 6:16. The worse prayer, made to the mountains. - Are you ready for the divine judgment? Matthew 24:29-31 - Luke 12:20. “.... this very night your life will demanded ...”
Conclusion. - What to do? Luke 12:17 -It is a good question. We all need to ask it. - My fruits, my plantations, my goods. - His neighbors called him a smart man, God calls him insane. - Matthew 16:26. Gained the world...and forfeits his soul. - What will I do with the greatest thing I have which is my life? - Give it to Jesus today.
