Introduction.

Palestine's dimensions: 200 km from North to South and 70 Km in width.

Galilee is towards the North,Judea is towards the South and Samaria is in between.

John 4:7 "A Samaritan woman came to draw water."

The well was 30m in depth.

It was impossible to draw water without a bucket (made of animals' skin) and rope.

The woman would have walked for about 1 km.

She was probably trying to escape the prejudice. John 4:18.

Samaritans : Jews that would marry non Jews.

John 4:9 It was 400 year-old disagreement.

That's why the woman was surprised when Jesus spoke to her.

John 4:12 Jacob's well was to the physical thirst .

John 4:13 Jesus's words about the well that meant everything to the woman.

02. The living water.

John 4: 7 A rabbi would not talk to his wife in public.

Jesus starts the dialogue ,calls her attention and provokes curiosity.

Why? John 3:16 . Jesus breaks the barriers.

He talks to a woman,to a Samaritan woman.

John 4:14 . Jesus was talking about Himself.

John 4:15. The woman didn't understand.

The same thing happened to Nicodemus. John 3:3-4

John 4:26 Jesus reveals Himself to her.

"Living Water" was a common word in the Old Testament.

Jeremiah 2:13 Isaiah 55:1 Psalm 42:1

Texts that refer to "thirsty souls".

Conclusion.

This woman's story is our story.

Everybody thirsts for God.We need God.
