Text: Numbers 14: 1-8 Introduction. - After one year the people go from Mount Sinai to Kadesh. Numbers 10:11 - When they arrived at Kadesh in May of the second year of pilgrimage. - There were 12 spies sent from Kadesh. - Ten people bring discouraging news. Numbers 13: 26-29 - In January of the fourth year (40) the people return to Kadesh. -Mount Sinai- Kadesh- Desert- Kadesh - Reasons for a sad 40 year journey. 01. The way that 10 spies saw the earth. - Ten were the majority. What do you do when you are the minority? -The majority elevated the golden calf. - The majority wanted to stone Paul. Acts 14: 11 and 14:19. - Ten pessimist men. I - Difficulty- God. - Two optimist men: I - God- Difficulty - We faced the “outside giants.” - We also have the “inside giants” in us. - We always fail when we compare our difficulties and our strengths. 02. The incredibility prevailed. - Numbers 14:4 “...let’s return to Egypt.” - It like saying today: I am going to return to the world. - Numbers 14: 29- 30. Only Joshua and Caleb would enter the promise land. - Numbers 13:25. The spies took only 40 days to travel and enter the land. - The people changed 40 days to 40 years. - The prejudice of fear. The prejudice of believing in God. - We fear what people will say. - We fear to believe in God. 03. The reality of the obstacles. - Numbers 13:30. Caleb knew the obstacles. - But the faithfully servant wants the blessings for his life and other people’s life. - Numbers 14:9b.
Conclusion. - Numbers 33 “...and they left....” “...and camped.” - Painful planned trip. - Without getting anywhere. - A life in a circle. Leaving Kadesh and returning to Kadesh. - Our life is the same way when we doubt. Defeat. Discouraged. - The opposite of doubt is certainty. - The worse of all doubts is the spiritual one. - Where will you spend eternity?
