Introduction.
- Peter and John went to the temple at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Acts 3:1 - On the way there they cured a lame man . Acts 3:6 - Because of this they were taken to the Jews’ court. Acts 4:3 - Acts 4: 12 "and in no other the salvation". - How is Peter able to speak with so much security? - Because he had the experience of salvation. - Three groups of people cannot be certain of the salvation:
1. The children, in full state of grace. 2. Members of church, of mediocre Christian life. 3. Those that never were saved, had an experience with Jesus.
01. Salvation is free.
- Ephesians 2:8 - It is a gift from God. A present. - If there was a price to man, some would not be able to pay. - I Peter 1: 18-19. The currency used to buy us. The blood of Jesus. - Illustration: The General Naaman in his meeting with Elisha. II Kings 5:5 - Took 300 kg of silver. The equivalent of 40 thousand dollars in gold. Ten New suits. But he was cured for free. A shadow of our salvation. - It is not philosophy. It is a spiritual experience. - Many already possess this experience, others do not.
02. The salvation is personal.
- Roman 14: 10-12. "... Each one of us. .." - It is nontransferable. - Illustration: Jesus in his ministry. With Zechariah... with Bartholomew... with the sick woman... with everybody. An individualized treatment. - Billy Graham created an expression: "cosmic loneliness" which means alone in the crowd. - You decide your life in eternity alone.
03. Salvation is forever.
- John 10: 28-29. Once saved, saved forever. - "No one can". The only reason for God not guard us, would be if there was another being greater than He, stronger than He. - John 5: 24. It is a guarantee from Jesus.
04. Salvation is to be lived.
- John 10:10. God does not die, Jesus does not die, his children do not die. - There are 3 kinds of life: Bio (health) Psyche (conscience) Zoe (spiritual) - It is of "zoe" that Jesus is speaking. Life with no end. - Not only for beyond the grave, it is to be lived now. - Remember of the prodigal son? A farmer’s son. But nobody believed in that. - Led a mediocre life.
05. Salvation is to be shared.
- Acts 4: 18-20. Going back to the initial text of this message. - Two questions of every believer:
1. What is the first big experience of your life? Have accepted Jesus. 2. What is the second big experience of your life? It is to share Jesus.
- Someone defined testimony as being: "A beggar, showing another where he found bread."
06. Salvation is universal.
- John 3: 16 - Since the Garden of Eden, God had an objective: To send Jesus to the world. - What is God’s purpose? Save the world. - Look at the promise: A negative side: do not perish. A positive side: have eternal life. - "If there was another plan to save the man, God would be the greatest of the murderers, for permitting the death of Jesus. - He permitted, because there was no other way to take us back to the Paradise."
Conclusion.
- Acts 4:13b. "... they had been with Jesus." Were daring. - What did Jesus do for you to be ashamed of him? - Many here are already saved, others still not. - Today is the day for you to accept Jesus as your only Savior.
