Search me, O God! - (04/24/05)

Text: Psalm 139 .

 Introduction.

There are 7 levels of perception.

1.The way you are. It's impossible to know exactly how you are. Why?It involves the control of the subconscious and we are aware of only 10% to 15% of ourselves.

2.The way you think you are. It's the mental activity that makes us think, decide, imagine.

3.The way others see you.A lot of mistakes are made.

4.The way you think others see you. It's another mistaken point of view.

5. The way others would like you to be.This is a very strong point of view within the family atmosphere.

6.The way you would like others to see you. There is a great effort to perform well.We try to improve our own image.

7.The way you would like to be.It's the difference between what you really are and what you seek to be.

All these are deceiving perceptions.

We find 4 truths in Psalm 139.

01.God knows everything about me .

Psalm 139:1-3.

Only God knows me for sure.

Isaiah 55:9 confirms this truth.

02.God sees everything around me.

Psalm 139:7-8.

I can be in a spaceship or in a submarine. He'll know it.

"Sheol"- describes the deepest abyss in OT.

Where will I go to.... verse 7. The impossible escape.

Daniel 2:22

03.God does everything for me.

Psalm 139 :13

The word "kidneys"was used to describe the deepest feelings in the ancient times.

God's been watching everything since I was in my mother's womb.

Let's see verses 15 and 16.

04.God examines everything in me.

Psalm 139:24

The writer of this Psalm acknowledges that God knows everything, but he insistes on being deeply analyzed by Him.

Conclusion.

Psalm 139:23

Search me: "I Want God to examine myself completely.

I don't want to examine myself.I don't want others to do so.

"Point out everything that offends you..."

The idea is: If I am in wrong path, lead me along the right one.

Psalm 138:8. We are creation of God's hands.

Psalm 139. We conclude that God doesn't abandon His creation, but wants to make it better.
