Text : Acts 16:22-34

Introduction

Acts 16:24. How is it possible to be happy in the inner dungeon?The worst place in prison.
Acts 16:23. How is it possible to be happy ending up in prison unjustly?
Three families began the church in Philippi.
Lydia's family. Acts 16:14
The young girl's family (the girl who had been possessed) Acts 16:18
The jailer's family. Acts 16:34
Acts 16:22 . Paul and Silas were thrown into prison for doing good.
Every time you decide to live and work for the Lord ,opposition will come.

01) It's a happy night because there is praise and prayer. Acts 16:25

It doesn't matter the circumstances they find themselves under.
They are physically imprisoned,but spirituality free.
On the other hand,the jailer is physically free,but spiritually imprisoned.
Just like tonight,in this service.Praises and prayer despite the difficult situations.
 

02) It's a happy night because death was avoided.

Acts 16:28.
The jailer would pay with his own life the prisoners' escape.
He wanted to kill himself before they killed him.Total desperation.
What is suicide?It's the search of happiness.
Life's been so difficult that people seek happiness through death.
Matthew 16:26 . A soul is worth more than the whole world.
Acts 16:28 How could Paul shout if it was completely dark?
The only explanation: He was guided by the Holy Spirit of God.
The massage of salvation is proclaimed in the middle of darkness.
Acts 16:29 . "calling for light".
John 8:12 Jesus is the light of the world.
Like the jailer,we also need light.
Avoid your spiritual death.Accept Jesus.

3. It's a happy night because the jailer accepts Jesus.

Acts 16:30 and 31.
What must I do? The most important question that everyone needs to ask.
What is the answer?Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.This is what brings salvation.Nothing more.
Acts 16:33. A fruitful faith."washes their wounds."

Conclusion

Four final lessons.

1 . Acts 16:18. The young girl was set free twice. Physically and spiritually.Only the power of Jesus can do that.
2 . Acts 16:26 . The earthquake wasn't meant to save Paul and Silas.It was meant to save the jailer.
Are you waiting for an earthquake in your life so that you can give yourself to Jesus?
3 . Acts 16:22. To follow Christ doesn't mean a life without problems.They can be even bigger. The gospel doesn't bring "an easy life." Be careful.
4 . Acts 16:25 ".... and the other prisoners were listening."
How long have you been listening to the gospel?
If any other prisoner asked how he could be saved,the answer would be the same.
Are you happy? I'm not asking if you have a good health,money,your own house, a united family,a green card,a brand new car.
I know many people who have everything and yet are not happy.
The true happiness is found in Jesus.
Accept Him as your only Savior today.
