Leprous, a picture of sin (05/30/04 - Night)

Text: Leviticus 13:1-3

Introduction

  • Mark 1: 40-45- Jesus’ meeting with a man who has leprous.
  • Leprous in Hebrew means “saraath,” which is a word for beating.
  • Sin causes spiritual wounds.
  • Jesus says to the man in this text: “I want to, be purified”
01. “...that can be a sign for leprous.” – v.2
  • In the beginning there was a small stain.
  • Leviticus 13:22
  • Illustration. A problem in the foot can cause the lost of the leg.
02. “...had to be isolated for seven days.” v. 21
  • The isolation was needed because it could contaminate. Luke 17:11
  • The person with leprous needed to stay outside of society.
  • Screamed if it was needed: “I am dirty”
  • Mark 1:40- The leprous got close to Jesus.
  • Leviticus 13:46- The law excluded.
  • Jesus included (v.40).
  • The same Jesus does in spiritual level.

Conclusion.

  • Leviticus 13:45. A tragedy that could reach any person.
  • It happened worse with sin, affects all.
  • The priests had to write a certificate allowing the person back into society.
  • Hebrews 9:22. Our forgiveness’ certificate was written by Jesus’ blood.
  • Mark 1:44. The person who was cured from leprous could only go to the priest after being cured and clean.
  • Matthew 11:28. The sinner has to go to Jesus the way he is.
  • The person with leprous was declared dead and had to live outside of the city.
  • The same way happens with a person in sin, he is spiritually dead, even though he is spiritually alive.
  • Only a miracle could cure a leprous.
  • Let the miracle of salvation take place in your life now.
  • Jesus says today: “I want, be purified.”
