Text: II Samuel 12:1-13

Introduction.

• The prophet Nathan:
  The name signifies Gift.
  A life clean. Compassionate. Wise.
  Had more than reputation, had integrity.
  Thus could point the "finger in the face of the King"

• II Samuel 11:1b "however David stayed in Jerusalem"
• II Samuel 11:4 "she came to him and he slept with her"
• II Samuel 11:10 "Why didn’t you go home?"
• II Samuel 11:13 "and got him drunk"
• II Samuel 11:15 "put Uriah in the front line of battle"
• II Samuel 11:27 "However what David had done displeased God"
• What the Bible says about that: James 1:14 "by the own evil desire"

• David was free from the hands of Saul.
• United Israel and Judea, formed one nation.
• Had wealth, women, sons and health.
• II Samuel 12:8 -- And God could have given him even more.
• II Samuel 12:5b -- He acts without mercy. He goes in the law. Exodus 22:1
• In sin acts rationally.

• II Samuel 12:15-18 . The infant dies.
• For David to remember: Romans 6:23 .
• II Samuel 12:10 . The sword would be inside his house.
• Absalam, his son, raised against him, - II Samuel 12:12 "I will do this in broad daylight" Idea: To be naked at the plaza.

Conclusion.

• II Samuel 12:13 "Sin against God" NT. Lucas 15:18
• David could have:
  1. Ordered Nathan killed
  2. Told him to leave and stayed quiet.
  3. Expelled him from the palace forever.
  4. Justify himself with the prophet.
• What happens when the sin finds us?
  A) We harden the heart. Proverbs 29:1
  B) We weaken. Proverbs 28:13
• Remember the cycle: sin- confession - sin
• The correct one is: sin - confession - resistance.
  Illustration: Brothers John and Mary lived in a small farm.

• II Samuel 12:13 -- I have Sinned. It is the solution.
