 | | | I am the resurrection and the life (01/25/04 - Night) |
Introduction:
- From the beginning we will see the difference between the death of a person who has Jesus as savior and of one who does not have Jesus as savior.
John 11:11 and I Thessalonians 4:13 For those who are saved, the physical death is a temporary interval, until the Resurrection. In the New Testament, the death of a saved one is always considered a sleep.
- People would continue to die, like Lazarus, but since Jesus is the life, he could persuade them to live beyond their tomb.
- Let's examine another text that helps us in the comprehension of resurrection. I Corinthians 15:3-8 : Paul introduces the subject, with proof.
I Corinthians 15:12-19 : We can learn at least 3 lessons:
| 1) | To deny the resurrection, turns Christianity into an illusion. John 11:15 |
- What's an illusion? That's the opposite of a fact..
- "... Testified..." We have testified about God that raised Christ from the dead.
| 2) | If there is no resurrection, there is no forgiveness of sins. Romans 4:25 |
- What's the man's biggest problem? The spiritual. The sin.
- In Jesus we have the solution for the problem.
| 3) | To deny the resurrection is to take away all our hope. John 11:19 |
- The resurrection is the center of our faith.
- We have other truths in the Christianity.
The birth of Jesus, through the Holy Spirit. The miracles performed by Jesus. The death in the cross, of Jesus.
- But, without resurrection, all these truths are in vain.
- It is not enough a God of love, we needed a God with power as well.
- Job's testimony. ( Job 19:25-27 )
Conclusion
- John 5:24-29
John 11:28 ".... in their graves will hear his voice..." What for? John 11:29 ".....resurrection of life....or resurrection of condemnation..." Application: Which one of these resurrections do you want to experiment?
- John 11:28 Yes, the Teacher is here and is asking for you. Today
