I am the Way the Truth and the Life - 01/18/04 Night

Text: John 14:1-6

Introduction

  • John 14:5 Thomas, the one who doubted: John 20:25 , doubted the resurrection. Here, he has doubt about the WAY. In John 7:33 , Jesus said to where he was going.
  • Doubt can become a blessing or a disgrace.

THE WAY

  • There is a great difference between "give information" about the way and go with it.
  • Jesus doesn't give information, he is the way. Here says, THE, not A.
  • It is the way that is always there. "Walk on it".
  • Not only for salvation, but for eternity.
  • There is an abyss between Human and the Divine: The Cross does the attachment.

THE TRUTH.

  • Truth: It is exactly what it says.
  • The arrogant can talk about being humble.
  • The fearful person can talk about being courageous.
  • The selfish person can talk about generosity.
  • But they are being fake.
  • Jesus talked and he was, it was true. The same "inside and outside".
  • John 8:32 "You will know the truth..."
  • John 8:36 "If the son sets you free…"

THE LIFE.

  • Illustration: The life of Jesus itself, "only" 33 years old. He lived.
  • People who live 80 years, 90 years, but without Jesus. Is this living?
  • "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full"
  • •Life for this world and for eternity.

Conclusion

  • John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled..." The disciples were afflicted. John 13:36-37 . Are you afflicted? Listen to the words of Jesus.
  • John 14:2 "...there are many rooms..." Jesus said this near the temple, where there were places for the travelers.
  • John 14:3 "...I will come back..." I will not only go, but I will return. John 14:19 and John 14:28 - Jesus doesn’t say: "I will die".
  • Jesus says: "I will go to the father" "Whoever sees me, sees the father" Show God to men (for me and for you) Take men (you and I) to God.
