This morning’s sermon is about what I believe is both the most universal and deadly of these sins, anger.
| B. | God the Father ( Psalm 7:11 ) |
| D. | Call your anger “righteous” if you will, but get rid of it by sundown. ( Ephesians 4:26 ) Illustration: You can compare anger to contaminated water dripping into a bathtub with the drain plugged. One drip at a time will eventually fill the tub. It may take weeks or months to fill the tub with the contaminated water, but eventually, one more drip will make the water spill over the top. |
| II. | When Does Anger Become Sin? ( James 1:19-20 ) |
| A. | It brings destruction. ( Colossians 3:6 ) |
| B. | It brings God’s wrath. ( Romans 1:18 ) |
| IV. | How Does Anger Affect the Individual? |
| A. | It caused Cain to slay Abel. ( Genesis 4:5-8 ) |
| B. | It caused the Jews to slay Stephen. ( Acts 7:54-59 ) |
| V. | Anger is Self Destructive. |
| A. | It caused Haman to conspire against Mordecai; ( Esther. 3:5 ) |
| B. | It caused Absalom to kill his brother; ( II Samuel 13:20 ; II Samuel 13:32 ) |
| C. | It caused Ahithophel to rebel against David; |
| 1. | Acknowledge that anger is a work of the flesh. ( Galatians 5:19-20 ) |
| 2. | Agree with God that it is sin and repent and receive forgiveness and cleansing. ( I John 1:9 ) |
| 3. | Walk in the Spirit. ( Galatians 5:22-23 ) |
