The Way of Perdition and the Way of Life - (08/01/04-night)

Text: Matthew 7: 13-14

Introduction

  • What do we find in the services of the church? Joy, fellowship, music
  • But it’s necessary that we speak very clearly about hell
  • Where are you going to spend eternity?
  • It depends on the way you choose while in life
  • We can define eternity as an infinite circle which will never be measured
  • Hell. No subject is so repugnant and important at the same time
A) Does hell exist?
  • Matthew 25:41. Whoever affirms that hell doesn’t exist, also affirms that Jesus is a liar.
  • Jesus was the one who most talked about hell
  • And He wouldn’t talk about it if it was not an important thing.
  • Revelations 20:15. A lake of fire
  • Revelations 20:10. Eternal torment
B) Does heaven exist?
  • It’s guaranteed by Jesus. John 14:2
  • It’s an inheritance. Matthew 25:34
  • What is heaven? It’s a place where we will be forever with God and nothing can separate us from Him.
C) To whom is heaven for?
  • John 14:2. “I’ll prepare a place for you.”
  • Matthew 25: 34. “Come, you who are blessed by my Father.”
  • Heaven was made for people created in the image of God.
  • A reminder: Matthew 25: 41 informs us for whom is hell prepared.

Conclusion

  • Illustration: Moddy read the following on a tomb in England:
    “I sinned”
    “I repent”
    “I trusted Jesus”
    “I loved Him”
    “I rest”
    “I’ll raise up”
    “I’ll reign with Him”
  • I invite you to have this same assurance from now on.
  • Malachi 3:18. Don’t let your life be a lottery but an insurance.
