Genesis 3:1-24

Content:

  1. Gen 03:01: Satan is a real being. The serpent was astute and it is deceiving.
  2. Gen 03:02-03: Eva lies! God said that the forbidden fruit brought death (Gen 2:17). God did not talk to Eva about this, for she was not born (Gen. 2:22), yet she tell the serpent what God said.
  3. Gen 03:04-05: "For God knows that when you eat” not if you eat “of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
  4. Gen 03:06: The woman gave into the temptation and allowed herself to be taken by her human feelings. She took, ate and passed the forbidden fruit on. Satan tries to convince Eva (us) that she can be like God.
  5. Gen 03:07-11a: Men and women indeed became aware of good and evil. They hid from God for they had fear and felt shame.
  6. Gen 03:11b: God sees His creation in sin. Ephesus 2:2, 6:11 shows Satan's purpose. Satan casts doubts and challenges God’s plan.
  7. Gen 03:12-13: Adam blames Eva and God for his own sin. Eva blames the serpent but confesses her sin.
  8. Gen 03:14: God punishes the serpent (puts the serpent in a very low position, on the ground where the dust is)
  9. Gen 03:15: “…He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel. (the Seed of God and the seed of the Devil represent the spiritual war between good and evil.
  10. Gen 03:16-24: The consequence of sin: painful birth, dominion of men over women, work for men to survive, death/separation from God, banishment from paradise, absence of the tree of life, introduction of forgiveness and mercy - God covers Adam and Eva.

Divisions:

  1. Gen 03:01-05: Introduction of Evil in the world.
  2. Gen 03:06-13 : The effect of evil, guilt, fear and shame.
  3. Gen 03:14-24: The consequence of Sin which separates us from God and our need to accept Jesus Christ as our savior.

Subject Sentence:

Evil equals Sin and separates us from God. Jesus restored our relationship with him/God.

Aim:

To cause people to realize that sin separates us from God, Jesus redeemed us and we can have a renewed relationship with God.

Application Questions -

Division 1:

  1. How is it that you are allowing evil to enter your life?
  2. What is it that Satan is doing of your life? What are you doing about it?
  3. How do you resist temptation? or What temptation you cannot resist (passions, pride, comfort, prestige, money, power? See Jo 31:1).

Division 2:

  1. How evil causes you to sin?
  2. What in your life makes you feel guilt and shame before God?
  3. Men and women gained knowledge of good and evil their own way and not God’s way. How you allow God to be in control of your learning and circumstances?

Division 3:

  1. How did you accept Jesus Christ as your redeemer?
  2. How do you see that in Adam all of us die but in Jesus we live?
  3. What choices have you this week about your relationship with Jesus?
  4. How is it that Jesus covers you?
