EXODUS 18

Divisions:

  1. Ex 18:1-8: Upon Jethro’s reunion with Moses, together with Zipporah and two sons, Moses gives his testimony to Jethro about everything the Lord had done for him and Israel.
  2. Ex 18:9-23: Jethro celebrated and worshiped God and, concerned about Moses’s activities, advices him on how to carry Moses leadership responsibilities.
  3. Ex 18:24-27: Moses accepts and implements Jethro’s advices.

Subject Sentence:


Reunited Moses and Jethro worship God after Moses's testimony; Moses accepts Jethro’s advices.

Aim:


To cause people to realize a) that wise leaders listen to Godly advice; b) that celebrating unions with others bring God’s people together; and c) that God uses others to influence our leadership decisions.

Application Questions -

Division 1:

  1. What kind of celebration and with whom are you carrying on?
  2. What testimony regarding God’s work in your life and of those around you are you sharing with those that do not know much about God?

Division 2:

  1. What have you shared with other people about what God has done in your life or in someone you know that caused them to celebrate and worship God together with you?
  2. How open are you to change your activities/decisions/perspectives/attitudes when somebody else recommends so?

Division 3:

  1. What advice have you received from somebody else that you implemented and how did it glorify God?
  2. When is it that you accept Godly advices but you don't change you worldly way?
